Have you ever been curious about the most popular language of Northern India made famous by Bollywood movies? Come learn the Devanagari alphabet and gain an appreciation for Bollywood movies and Hindi music! This class will make travel to and around India easier and more fun and will increase your appreciation of Hindi movies!

Recommended hours: 15-18

Goals:

  • Learn the Hindi Alphabet (pronunciation, reading & writing)
  • Learn basic phrases and vocabulary relating to conversational Hindi
  • Strategies for listening comprehension in movies and songs
  • Gain familiarity with and appreciation of Hindi movies, music, and literature
  • Learn the history behind the Hindi language

  • Hindi Consonants & Personal Introductions
  • Hindi Vowels & Hobbies Vocabulary
  • Writing Hindi Words & Intro to Singular Hindi Nouns
  • Writing Hindi Sentences I & Intro to Plural Hindi Nouns
  • Listening to Hindi Songs I & Intro to Hindi Present Tense Verbs
  • Writing Hindi Sentences II & Hindi Present Tense Verbs II
  • Listening to Hindi Songs II & Intro to Hindi Past Tense Verbs
  • Reading Basic Hindi Stories & Poetry
  • (Optional) Hindi Review Session: Questions & Resources for Further Learning
  • (Optional) Bollywood Movies & Music Videos
