A Bay Area native, I attended Sequoia High School and completed the IB diploma program. Along the way, I met a lot of great people and was inspired by excellent teachers. After graduating from Sequoia, I attended UC Berkeley, where I studied economics and computer science. As a student, I benefited from quality instruction and enjoyed helping classmates and friends with any assignments or concepts that they struggled with.
I have worked with students of all levels and in many capacities throughout my life. I helped run the summer reading program at the San Carlos library and rewarded elementary school children for their reading achievements. I tutored students in the AVID program for three years, supporting high schoolers in subjects like Spanish, English, history, and math. It was a fulfilling experience for me to see students conquer concepts and materials that they once dreaded and thought were difficult.
While at UC Berkeley, I worked as an academic intern for computer science, in which I helped students learn underlying concepts and complete homework, projects, and labs. Over the years, I have learned that tutoring support can help students get to the next level of academic achievement while building confidence about their potential.
My teaching style is highly personalized. I do my best to make sure that my students get the individual attention that they need, and I like using examples and analogies to explain things in a more intuitive way. Much learning occurs when you correct or reinforce your understanding, so I ask a lot of questions. Most importantly, I make sure that my teaching style is flexible because different students and classes require different approaches.
When I’m not tutoring, I enjoy following the NBA, MLB (Go Giants!), soccer, and football. In the future, I plan on pursuing a master’s degree in data science and analytics.
