I have been fascinated by the sciences from a very young age. My love for biology followed me to college, where I obtained my degree in Biological Sciences from Drexel University. Outside of classes, I was a clinical research assistant at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. I also collaborated with the hospital to enhance the medical care given to their patients.
Throughout college, I tutored peers in some of the tougher science courses, such as Human Physiology and Organic Chemistry. My love of the sciences along with my personal study habits allowed me to help my peers become more comfortable with the material. In addition to college students, I also tutored local middle school students, and I realized how rewarding tutoring was. My friends and and I created an after-school science program where we tutored seventh and eighth graders in the basic sciences. Fostering an interest in scientific inquiry and concepts was highly enjoyable, and along the way I developed my teaching skills. I learned how to explain complex concepts in a simple way by breaking down ideas into simple steps.
I strongly believe that students learn the most when they are shown the material in multiple ways. Being taught the material in various forms allows students to grasp new ideas intuitively, as everyone learns differently. As such, I strive to individualize each session based on the strengths and weaknesses of my students. Having gone through tough classes myself, I understand the importance of that 1-on-1 time. I hope to give students the confidence that they have the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in high school and beyond.
Eventually, I hope to go to medical school and open up my own practice. In my spare time, I also love to dance, play basketball, hike, and explore new places.
