I was born and raised right here in Menlo Park, where I attended Menlo Atherton High School. I went to AJ Tutoring as a high school student for SAT prep, and it helped me significantly improve my scores. Studying at AJ also inspired me to begin my own teaching and tutoring, and I’ve been doing so ever since!

During high school, I started spending my summers volunteering at an elementary summer school program in East Menlo Park and discovered my love of working with students. My patient and compassionate demeanor served me well when working with young people, and I always felt heartbroken when I had to say goodbye to the kids at the end of each summer. When I started college at Scripps in Claremont, California, I continued to find ways to work with children in school settings. I volunteered in a third grade class during my four years in college and was president of the club that allowed college students like me to volunteer at local elementary schools. I have also spent summers working at the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Peninsula.

While at Scripps, I discovered my passion for learning and writing about art, and I decided to major in art history. Being at a liberal arts college also allowed me to discover and explore my interests in subjects such as psychology, gender studies, and race and ethnic studies, all areas that I care deeply about and continue to strive to learn about to this day. I’m passionate about social justice and view education equity as an important facet of that.

I believe education leads to empowerment and the opening of doors. I also believe that the most important aspect of an education is finding where one’s talents and passions intersect. I take great interest in learning about each individual with whom I interact, which is useful when working with students who have different learning styles and temperaments. I have experience working with all different kinds of students, and I love seeing the moments when they get excited about what they’re learning, or when a tricky concept finally clicks!

In my free time, I enjoy hiking, practicing yoga, visiting art museums, thrift shopping, and reading.
