I graduated from UC Davis with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics. While there, I took courses in heavily proof based fields like real analysis, linear algebra, and group theory. I also took statistics and computer science where I learned how to program in C++, R, LaTex, and more. In addition to my degree, I have also completed some actuarial exams so Probability and Interest theory are my specialties!
I started my career tutoring math immediately after graduation. Sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm with my students and watching them grow academically is what I find most rewarding. Interpreting numbers and converting real world problems into math equations is my passion so I place a large emphasis on this while teaching because I find it to be equally effective, if not more than, rote memorization. I like one on one tutoring because it allows me to really get to know my students and what their learning needs are. Being able to give all my attention to one student at a time helps me tutor more thoroughly and facilitate the learning process of my students which is something that I can only do here at AJ Tutoring.
When I’m not tutoring or studying for Actuarial exams, I’m at home enjoying a cup of coffee while reading short horror stories by HP Lovecraft. My favorite movie is “There Will Be Blood.”
