Chemistry of California

In awe of nature and the study of it? Intrigued, though maybe intimidated, by science? Learn key ideas of the central science, chemistry, that will enrich future academic endeavors and outdoor adventures!

Locations: Los Gatos, Los Altos

Cost: $100/hr.

Recommended hours: 10

Goals:

  • Learn interesting facts about nature and California as a state
  • Understand current issues in chemistry relevant to California and nature
  • Learn chemistry in a fun, tangible context through examples specific to California’s geography and flora and fauna
  • Include a soft introduction to physics as a way to understand concepts
  • Develop an enthusiasm and appreciation for science

Course Description:

You don’t need to be a scientist to appreciate the beauty of California, but developing an understanding of California’s unique chemistry will deepen your appreciation.

This course will introduce the student to key concepts in chemistry as seen in our own state, California. Science and outdoor enthusiasts are especially encouraged.
