Adam Scandlyn

Academic Tutor

After graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a master’s in business analytics, a bachelor’s in mathematics, a minor in statistics, and over five years of tutoring experience with students of all ages, I moved back home to Menlo Park to pursue a career in data analysis. However, with experience and exploration under my belt, I circled back to my passion for education.

I especially fell in love with tutoring as a student mentor for a several high school classes at Templeton High School. I worked in group and one-on-one settings to help students catch up on homework, tests, and quizzes for their math and statistics classes. Our consistent meetings allowed me to build connections with each student and to encourage them to be passionate about education, pursue college opportunities, and more.

I believe that math often feels like a gatekeeper, and that a solid foundation in mathematics can open all sorts of doors for students. I find joy in helping students push through that gate and to see all the unhindered possibilities ahead of them.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy playing all sorts of games, watching musicals, boxing, traveling, and learning to cook new recipes!
