A Los Angeles native, I consider the Bay Area my second home! I studied at Stanford University for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees, earning a BA in English and an MA in an interdisciplinary program called Music, Science, and Technology. I also have a certificate in 2D Animation from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. My natural curiosity and eclectic interests have made me into a lifelong learner and passionate educator. Basically, I’m obsessed with all things academic! I have a deep love for the humanities and creative arts as well as a great appreciation for STEM fields.
Tutoring Bay Area high school students is a joy and a privilege that I’ve had the opportunity to do ever since I started studying at Stanford. I have tutored students of all levels and learning styles to help build academic performance and success on tests. It is important to me that students get the most out of our time together, so I observe then tailor my teaching to each individual’s particular strengths. I always keep the big picture in mind, sharing strategies and study skills applicable to not just a particular test but to scholarship and problem-solving in general. I’m always seeking to expand and grow my “mental model” of myself, and I encourage my students to do the same: be resourceful, look for connections, think outside the box, and pursue your goals with intention and perseverance. Life is for the seizing!
I often find that students begin tutoring for tough classes or exams like the SAT or ACT with a lack of confidence. Surprisingly, students who insist they are not excellent readers, writers, mathematicians, or test takers often succeed beyond their expectations. I really enjoy supporting my students as they realize their own potential in school and on standardized tests.
In my spare time, I draw, read, listen to music, and spend time with friends and family. I also enjoy traveling and learning foreign languages.
