Connor McMillion

Academic Tutor

I was born and raised in the Bay Area, and I attended a large, competitive high school in Cupertino. My physiology teacher drew me in with their contagious enthusiasm for STEM, inspiring in me a passion for science and leading me to attend the University of California, Santa Cruz to study molecular, cellular, and developmental biology. My college education brought a wide range of experiences, including spending a semester each at Yonsei University in Korea and University College Utrecht in the Netherlands and taking courses in Philosophy, improvisation, and scuba diving. Across my experiences, I discovered my love for learning and exploring, and I came to recognize that learning is a never ending process.

I come from a family of teachers, and my first experience as an educator was helping my mother in the classroom by tutoring students during my high school and post-college years. Coming from a line of educators and being the oldest of three in my family, I understand the importance of a support network in helping students navigate their academic experiences and reach their maximum potential. I’ve also come to realize the value of sustaining curiosity in the learning process to help ensure that learning is gratifying for both the student and the educator. I believe that anyone can achieve mastery of a subject with the right support and guidance to supplement the learning process. My goal is to help my students achieve mastery of a topic and to turn difficult concepts or frustrating problems into an enjoyable challenge for the student to overcome.

In my free time, you can find me exploring nature, catching up on Netflix with my wife, working out, and learning to code!
