Biography

I moved to the Bay Area to attend UC Berkeley, and I’ve made it my home ever since. Growing up in a low-income, Title 1 school district, I had to experiment with and develop study habits to be competitive and keep up with the rigor at a prestigious university. This experience has shaped my passion for education and teaching. As a National Merit Scholar and top 1% PSAT scorer, I know firsthand the value of tailored learning strategies on a student’s academic journey.

I earned my degree in Molecular Environmental Biology from UC Berkeley and then went on to work in sustainability consulting which strengthening my skills in math and science.  Following that, I worked for another company and gained hands on tutoring experience for courses including government, psychology, statistics, and Spanish.

I have also supported students who were falling behind in K-8 mathematics, personalizing my approach to meet each child’s unique needs. I find great joy in explaining complex concepts in clear, accessible ways, helping students grasp material for long-term comprehension.

With a background in social work, I also bring valuable interpersonal skills to my tutoring, allowing me to build rapport with students. I help them develop tools to manage their stress and navigate challenges with confidence. I am particularly skilled at helping students prioritize their tasks, improving time management skills for their academic success and beyond.

My approach to tutoring is centered on clear communication, collaboration, and customized learning plans. I work closely with each student to identify their needs, ensuring that our sessions are effective and supportive of their personal growth and success.

Outside of tutoring, I’m a passionate foodie and love experimenting with vegetarian recipes, especially with a Punjabi twist. When I’m not in the kitchen, I spend time looking for hidden food gems in the Palo Alto area and sharing my finds as a Yelp Elite Squad member. Feel free to reach out if you need recommendations!

"My tutor's explanations were a lot better than my teacher, as she's always focused and one time and ready. I learn more then in class. "
