Jeremy Choe

Academic Tutor

My strong passion for math and physics lead me to pursue a degree in electrical engineering at UC Santa Barbara. After graduating with my Bachelor of Science, I accepted a position as a hardware development engineer at a laser company in San Jose. There, I create quick-set-up R&D test solutions to measure specific device characteristics, and I am in charge of managing reliability tests of our products.

While in high school, I had the opportunity to work with a tutor who helped me tremendously in understanding calculus, and I know I have him to thank for a lot of my academic success in college. As a tutor now myself, I aim to be this same kind of tutor: to help lay a solid foundation so that students may enjoy success in their college-level math and physics classes to come.

I enjoy helping my students understand why we take the steps we take in math and to develop their critical thinking and problem solving skills. However, I also enjoy helping my students recognize how relevant calculus is to the world around us. For example, as the nature of electricity is very mathematical, I frequently find myself employing calculus to describe or predict the behavior of electrical signals.

In my free time, I enjoy skateboarding, working on my cars, playing piano, and going to the gym. I always accept movie recommendations, and I will always watch them.
