I studied English Literature at the UCSB before pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Palo Alto University. The insights I gained while exploring my passions for literature, language, and psychology have been invaluable in my career as a tutor. Sharing my love for these academic subjects has allowed me to better appreciate the unique learning styles of all kinds of students. I take great joy in having helped hundreds of students develop their skills as students, writers, and test-takers.
Here at AJ Tutoring, I enjoy helping my students prepare for the SAT and ACT as well as supporting them in their academic English and Spanish classes. I also love working with younger students, especially those who are preparing for the high school entrance exams. Throughout my years of experience, I have learned that no two students learn the same way. It is crucial that I am able to identify the particular strengths and weaknesses of a student, and there is no better way to accomplish this then 1-on-1 tutoring.
Like most English lit majors/enthusiasts, I spend much of my time outside of work reading! Some of my favorite authors are David Sedaris, David Foster Wallace, Jonathan Safran Foer, and Haven Kimmel. I’m also a huge movie buff! When I’m not plumbing the depths of the vast Netflix sea, I can often be found trying to catch the latest indie flick at the Aquarius or the Guild. And when the weather’s just too good to stay inside, I like to run, hike, and do yoga!
