Since entering college, I have been interested in teaching chemistry and biology because I believe these are two of the subjects that students struggle with the most that are very applicable to students’ daily lives. I began my studies at UC Davis as a chemistry major, but the pre-podiatry path led me to graduate with a degree in neurobiology, physiology, and behavior.
Before attending UC Davis, I worked for Campbell Adult and Community Education for two years as an instructional aide. At UC Davis, I was involved in tutoring high school students in 1-on-1 sessions in chemistry and biology. In all my sessions, I did my best to devise a method of teaching that was unique to each student based on their level of knowledge and specific goals.
High school and college present many obstacles, and students must overcome countless challenges in order to be a successful student. I enjoy helping my students navigate these challenges, whether to find the right study methods to support their unique learning style, to master testing anxiety and approach tests with confidence, or to plan and prepare effectively for cumulative exams like the AP. I have learned that patience is the key to success in the process of learning, and so I work to help students be patient with themselves.
In my free time, I enjoy playing soccer, and I always follow my favorite team: Real Madrid!
