I was born and raised in San Jose, and I graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a degree in neuroscience. Subsequently, I decided to pursue further education at the University of Pikeville in Kentucky, where I obtained my medical degree. I have completed my intern year in internal medicine and am looking forward to beginning training in diagnostic radiology.
My love for learning did not manifest until my senior year of high school, when I took AP Chemistry. My previous chemistry teacher pushed me challenge myself, and I enrolled in the AP course. Through this class, I discovered that dedication and hard work truly can lead to results, even in a difficult subject. While I entered college intending to pursue neuroscience, a course in human physiology set me on a path to medical school. Science came alive to me in that class, as I was able to visualize concepts and connect them to how they pertain to the human body.
As an undergrad, I tutored students 1-on-1 in the introduction to chemistry series. Later, in medical school, I helped undergraduate students with their premed courses prior to their exams. As a resident physician, I was tasked to teach medical students and supervise their involvement in patient care. I strongly support the idea of life-long learning, and I enjoy working with my high school students to encourage their passions. It is my hope to instill this belief life-long learning in my students to provide a perspective on mathematics and science as someone who has “made it to the other side.”
Outside of tutoring and studying, I enjoy weightlifting, cycling, and photography. I also enjoy traveling and am a big fan of video games.
