Since grade school, I have loved helping people in any way I can. Volunteering to help other students, working as a tutor for my university’s community outreach program, and applying to teach English in Nepal are all ways in which I have explored this passion. While completing my master’s degree in civil engineering with a concentration in advanced infrastructure systems, I had the most fun when tackling difficult, open-ended problems with the problem-solving skills I developed during school. I’m always eager to share my own passion for problem-solving with others.

Throughout my educational career, I have had the great fortune of working with many amazing teachers, tutors, and mentors. I would not be the person I am today were it not for the professors who stayed after class to help explain a difficult concept, or for the mentors who helped give me perspective on some of my life’s biggest hurdles. I see tutoring as an opportunity to pay that forward and help others through the educational challenges that we all encounter.

I believe that education and mentorship are great pathways for individual growth. While the immediate goal is to build greater subject matter expertise, I also aim to help students grow in other ways as well, whether through building their self-confidence, honing communication and study skills, or showing them that the future is open to them.

Outside of work, I like to continually invest in myself and my own education. I enjoy studying Japanese, playing the piano, cooking, and reading.
