Biography

I wish for all people —especially young, growing minds—to recognize their power to focus, think and learn. While studying Linguistics at UC Santa Cruz, my fascination with learning expanded. The undergraduate program explores language acquisition, psycholinguistics, and knowledge representation, among other fascinating topics. Learning, reading, thinking, and speaking—the pillars of education—are central to linguistics.

My passion for learning is matched by my love for education. Since I was young, I’ve taught myself various interests—how to draw, knit, juggle, skateboard, which I would then share and teach to friends and family. Self-study and teaching are my biggest hobbies. The process of becoming familiar with a subject that only becomes more curious is pure joy! Teaching is a great privilege because there is always more to learn, and students never fail to inspire with their fresh and unique perspectives.

While studying at UCSC, I taught English as a foreign Language (EFL) to K-8 students with first languages Japanese and Russian. I loved working with the kids, witnessing their improvement, and leading the energy of the classroom. Once I graduated from University, I completed a Yoga Teacher Training at Mount Madonna Center. We learned to teach breath work, meditation, and yoga classes. Since then, I’ve offered classes to both kids and adults on a regular basis. It’s wonderful to support communities live with peace and good health!

In my free time, I love to swim in the ocean, cook delicious recipes, study languages, and volunteer for various local projects. I also spend lots of time with family and friends, who I love very much. I’m excited to learn from the students I meet at AJ Tutoring this year.
