Biography

All my life I’ve loved learning new things and engaging with the world of ideas, both inside and outside of the classroom. My academic journey led me to major in economics at Washington University in St. Louis, where I was also able to explore my interests in literature, history, anthropology, sociology, and more. After graduating, I explored other professions before discovering that tutoring was the perfect way to fuel my passion for academics and provide a direct, tangible benefit to my community. I also began my practice of creative writing, and am now a published and award-nominated poet.
As a tutor, I am driven by the satisfaction of helping my students unlock their potential for curiosity and creativity. I strive not only to prepare my students for academic challenges, but to help them discover the joy of learning for themselves. Whether I’m helping a student unlock and master proven test-taking strategies, refine their skills in analysis and essay-writing, or move from learning historical facts to grasping historical trends, I always aim to customize my approach for each student and guide them to form their own insights and discoveries. One-on-one tutoring is the best environment to build the relationship that students need to feel prepared for their coursework and confident in their own ability to learn.
Beyond tutoring and creative writing, I enjoy cycling, rock climbing, visiting art museums, cooking, collecting jazz records, and relaxing with my cats.

Happy Parents and Students

""My tutor did a very good job of making the teaching material clear and obvious. They were also very good at explaining what I did wrong but in a constructive and helpful way.""
