Biography

My passion for education grew out of a love for learning and a desire to help others feel confident in their abilities. I find meaning in helping students move from confusion to clarity and in creating spaces where curiosity and confidence can grow together.

I grew up in Southern California and completed high school with highest honors, where AP Biology first sparked my interest in science. I went on to study biology at the University of California, Santa Barbara, through the College of Creative Studies, a research-intensive program centered on student-driven exploration. During my time at UCSB, I was deeply involved in undergraduate research, presenting at multiple symposiums and contributing to an academic publication. These experiences fostered a passion for science communication and shaped how I think about learning and teaching today: understanding is important, but excitement and curiosity are just as essential.

My interest in science communication naturally draws me to biology and K-8 academic support, where clear explanations and encouragement shape how students think and builds their confidence early on. Over time, my appreciation for biology has grown, and I enjoy helping students see it as an approachable, logical subject rather than something intimidating. When concepts are broken down clearly and connected to the bigger picture, students feel more confident and engaged in their learning.

In addition to my academic background, I’ve worked closely with students as a campus tour guide and a resident assistant for two years. In these roles, I supported students academically and personally, helped them navigate challenges, and fostered independence and belonging. These experiences strengthened my ability to meet students where they are and adapt to different learning styles.

My tutoring philosophy centers on personalization, patience, and confidence-building. I tailor each session to a student’s goals and pace, encourage questions and mistakes as part of the learning process, and focus on building strong foundations that help students feel capable and motivated.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy strength training, playing video games, and snuggling with Bella (the cutest dog ever!).
