Clarke Taylor

Academic and Test Prep Tutor

Biography

My journey as an educator began in high school, when I helped tutor younger students and discovered how rewarding it was to help someone reach their “aha” moment. Inspired by my own love of reading and writing, I pursued undergraduate degrees in history and political science at Tufts University while spending my summers teaching. After graduating, I continued exploring my interest in education by earning a master’s degree in education from Stanford University before joining AJ Tutoring.

At AJ Tutoring, I provide individualized support in history, K–8 subjects, and SAT preparation. One-on-one tutoring gives me the opportunity to design lessons around each student’s individual needs, helping them build a stronger understanding of the material while also encouraging their natural curiosity. I enjoy finding ways to make challenging concepts more approachable and creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and engaging with the material.

My approach to tutoring is shaped by the belief that effective learning is both personal and collaborative. Every student brings their own strengths, interests, and learning style to a session, and I enjoy adapting my approach to meet them where they are. My goal is not only to help students improve their academic performance, but also to help them become more confident and engaged learners.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy reading and writing and consider myself a lifelong learner. I am always looking for my next history book or documentary to explore. I also love rock climbing and watching horror movies.

Happy Parents and Students

"The most helpful part of the tutoring was definitely how knowledgeable my tutor was in the subject he was teaching."
