Biography

I grew up in New Jersey and North Carolina in a family that has always placed a strong value on education. I believe education can create great opportunities, help build confidence, and give students the chance to discover their passions. My interest in biology came from my love of wildlife, nature, and understanding how living systems work. I earned my bachelor’s degree in biology from Western Carolina University. By taking courses in genetics, cell biology, ecology, evolution, and chemistry, I became more interested in how different areas of science connect and help explain the natural world.

During my time in college, I regularly used tutoring services and found them to be extremely helpful. Many topics did not come easily to me at first, especially when I was starting to learn more difficult concepts. Sometimes, having someone explain the same idea in a different way was all it took for the material to click. Those experiences showed me how valuable a patient and supportive tutor can be, and that inspired me to provide that same kind of help to other students.

When working with students, I want them to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and admitting when something is confusing. Struggling with a subject does not mean that someone is incapable of succeeding in it. My goal is to break difficult topics into more manageable parts and help students build both their understanding and their confidence. I also hope that I can help some students develop a real interest in science and see themselves pursuing a future career in STEM.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy hiking, camping, spending time with my dogs, and exploring all of the beautiful places in the Bay Area. I am always looking for a new trail, park, or scenic place to visit, and I especially enjoy learning more about the wildlife and natural history of the places I explore.

""The level of help they provide and the professionalism in the sense that he get me to get the job done and help me learn, but not so over the top such that I don't enjoy tutoring.""
