Course Description:

This course invites students in grades 5-8 to strengthen their narrative writing skills through the timeless myth of The 12 Labors of Hercules. Starting with a close reading and discussion of the original legend, students will explore problem-solution storytelling, plot arcs, and heroic journeys.

Throughout the course, students move step-by-step along the writing process: brainstorming, outlining, drafting, peer revising, and polishing a final piece. Students will learn about dialogue, paragraph breaks, descriptive language, action verbs, and literary devices that bring stories to life.

By the end of the course, each student will have written an original “Six Labors” legend and will present their work to the class with a short presentation.
