Aava Saffarnia

Biography

After graduating from UC San Diego with a degree in Human Biology, I found myself drawn to work centered around helping, teaching, and supporting others. My experiences have taken me in many different directions—from tutoring Chemistry and Biology students at the College of San Mateo to conducting clinical research at UCSD Health, supporting families as a birth and postpartum doula, and working as an EMT. Throughout each of these roles, I have found that I am most fulfilled when I can help someone feel more confident, supported, and capable.

I believe the best learning happens when students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and challenging themselves. My goal is to help students not only strengthen their understanding of the material, but also build the confidence and independence to approach future challenges on their own.

When I’m not working or tutoring, I am working as an EMT, studying for the MCAT, and applying to medical school. For fun I enjoy weightlifting, martial arts, reading and spending time with family and friends.
