Biography

After graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in software engineering, I’m excited to be back in the Bay Area and continuing to explore my passion for math and science. Throughout high school and college, I treasured every opportunity to help my friends and peers with their schoolwork. My passion for teaching began in high school, when tutoring my best friend in precalculus became our excuse to spend more time together. After seeing him succeed in a subject that had initially been very difficult for him, I realized how rewarding it could be to help someone build both their understanding and confidence.

I continued tutoring and hosting study groups with roommates, friends, and classmates throughout college as I took more calculus and physics courses. I love looking back with my students and seeing how much their confidence and proficiency have grown since we first started working together. I also enjoy gaining a deeper and more creative understanding of different topics myself through the process of teaching them to others.

As I worked toward my engineering degree, I experienced firsthand how difficult it can be to struggle with confidence in an academic setting. One of the most impactful professors I had was actually a psychology professor, who helped me develop the academic tools and mindset I needed to recognize that I was capable of succeeding in a challenging field. That experience shaped the way I approach tutoring. Even when students come in with little confidence or experience in math, I want to create a comfortable environment where they feel supported and capable. From there, we can tackle challenging problems together, one step at a time.

My goal is to help students develop not only the knowledge they need for a particular subject, but also the confidence and problem-solving skills to know they can succeed in whatever they choose to pursue.

In my free time, I love climbing both indoors and outdoors, reading books (I’m currently nearly finished with The Count of Monte Cristo), and playing with my friends and family in Mario Kart.

"He is really good at explaining conceptuals ideas and helping me visualize concepts, further than just how to mathematically solve the problem, so that I can visualize how to solve problems on my own."
