Biography

I was born and raised in San Jose and recently graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in Statistics. Growing up, I was often the first person my siblings and cousins called for homework help. In high school, I volunteered as a tutor and discovered how much I enjoyed helping students work through challenging material while creating a supportive environment they looked forward to. I also spent several summers as a camp counselor with the Youth Science Institute, where I saw firsthand the value of hands-on, experiential learning.

What I enjoy most about teaching is watching students’ confidence and curiosity grow alongside their skills. I’m especially drawn to math because concepts build on one another, with each theorem and principle providing a tool for breaking complex problems into manageable pieces. I believe students learn best when they move beyond memorization and develop a genuine understanding of why something works.

One-on-one tutoring is especially appealing to me because it allows me to tailor lessons to each student’s individual needs, learning style, and goals. I like incorporating plenty of examples and practice to make abstract concepts more concrete and relatable. I also believe that taking ownership of your education can be empowering, so I aim to help students build not only their subject knowledge, but also strong study and time-management skills. My goal is for students to leave sessions feeling more confident in their ability to approach challenging problems independently.

In my free time, I enjoy reading fiction and creative nonfiction, discovering new hiking trails around the Bay Area, and trying new baking recipes.

Happy Parents and Students

"I wasn't able to learn a lot from my teacher in school so tutoring was filling that gap that I was missing from school. It was reassuring to make sure that I was understanding the material correctly by reviewing it during my tutoring sessions."
