Biography

Growing up in the Bay Area, I’ve always enjoyed learning and challenging myself academically. I graduated from the University of California, Davis, with a B.S. in Cognitive Science with an emphasis in Neuroscience and double minors in Psychology and Computer Science. My interest in how people think and learn is a big part of what drew me to tutoring. I enjoy helping students understand difficult concepts and seeing their confidence grow when they realize they are capable of solving problems they once found challenging.

At AJ Tutoring, I tutor algebra and pre-calculus. I enjoy math because of the problem-solving involved and the satisfaction of working through a problem until everything comes together. I know math can be frustrating when students feel like they’re missing a step or don’t understand how different concepts connect. My goal is to help students build a strong foundation, understand the reasoning behind what they’re doing, and feel more confident in their abilities. I want students to leave our sessions feeling ready to take on challenging problems, even when they don’t get the answer right away.

I’ve tutored my peers throughout high school and college, and I enjoy finding explanations that make sense for each student’s individual way of thinking. One of my favorite parts of tutoring is seeing the moment when a student finally understands something they’ve been struggling with. It’s rewarding to help make a subject feel less overwhelming and more approachable. I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes while also developing the independence to work through problems on their own.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy hiking with friends, reading murder mysteries, drinking way too much boba, traveling the world (almost seven continents!), and running.
