Armaan Singh

Biography

I was born and raised in the Bay Area, graduating from Dublin High School and attending UC Davis, where I earned my B.S. in genetics and genomics. During my time in college, I developed a strong interest in biology and chemistry, both through my coursework and through my experience working as a biotechnology research assistant, where I used advanced gene-editing technology to modify plants.

Beginning as a math and English instructor, I worked for several years with elementary, middle and high school students, before going on to tutor chemistry and biology at UC Davis. My teaching philosophy centers on helping students understand the reasoning behind a concept, rather than blindly memorizing facts. I also believe that every student learns differently, so I enjoy finding new ways to explain challenging concepts that are tailored to each student’s own learning style.

Outside of tutoring, learning about new advances in medicine and biotechnology feeds my passion for knowledge. I also enjoy staying active, whether that be working out at the gym or going on long scenic walks or runs, as well as spending time with family and friends.
