Biography

I was born in the vibrant city of Bangalore, India, but I grew up in the D.C. area, where I spent 19 years shaping not only my academic foundation but also my passion for teaching. Even in middle school, I remember sitting at lunch with my friends to help them work through math problems or explain science homework in a way that made sense to them. It wasn’t just about getting the right answer to me. Instead, it was about helping someone believe they could master difficult concepts.

That passion stayed with me all the way through my undergraduate years, where I graduated with honors in Clinical Neuroscience with a minor in Adaptive Brain and Behavior. Alongside my academic pursuits, I worked at tutoring centers on the East Coast and also supported my own private students across a range of STEM subjects. Over time, my role expanded into also helping both domestic and international students navigate the often-overwhelming undergraduate admissions process.

While I’m on the path toward becoming a physician, teaching has never been a “side job” for me—it’s been central to how I see myself serving others. One of the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on was launching free kidney screenings for underserved populations, which also involved developing simple, engaging ways to teach basic health science to people of all ages and backgrounds. That experience confirmed something I’ve always felt whether I’m in a classroom, clinic, or community center, I want to teach. My long-term goal is not just to practice medicine, but to become a professor as someone who helps bridge the gap between complex ideas and everyday realities.

Now that I’m in California, I’m thrilled to bring that same philosophy to AJ Tutoring. As someone who has personally enrolled through multiple SAT prep courses, I know how impersonal large-group test prep and tutoring can feel. What excites me about working here is the opportunity to support students 1-on-1, in a way that’s tailored to their individual strengths, challenges, and learning styles. The ability to customize sessions based on each student’s needs isn’t just a perk—it’s the key to real growth. For me, the most rewarding part of tutoring is watching students walk away from a session not just with better grades or test scores, but with renewed confidence and satisfaction that ripples out into every corner of their lives.

Outside of tutoring, you’ll usually find me watching or talking about sports. Over the last three years, I’ve really fallen in love with Basketball, Football, Baseball, Hockey, Tennis, and Soccer. Each sport has its own learning curve, and just like academic subjects, the more I study them, the more I appreciate their depth. Whether it’s breaking down a play or solving a physics problem, I enjoy the process of digging deeper and growing through practice.
