Biography

After graduating from UC Irvine, I taught computer science to hundreds of elementary schoolers at a private school in the bay area. I loved teaching, but longed for the opportunity to build more meaningful connections with my students, and soon transitioned to private tutoring. The one-on-one work led to a richer teaching atmosphere and more profound successes for both my students and me. I started with K-8 core subjects and quickly picked up advanced test prep skills. Wanting to expand my horizons further, I then completed a WACAC College Counseling program through UCSD.

My goal as a college counselor and educator is to foster a truly nurturing and challenging environment where every student feels supported and inspired. I aim to cultivate a lifelong love of growth and learning in my practice – meeting students’ unique needs with purposeful guidance so they are empowered to tackle their next adventure. I particularly enjoy helping students create thoughtful and balanced college lists, as well as managing the sometimes overwhelming project of applying to college!

I am honored to coach college-bound students as they make some of their first major life decisions, and am delighted to support every family I meet at AJ Tutoring with their educational journeys.

When I’m not working with students, I enjoy kayaking with my daughter, reading fantasy novels, and leading children’s story times in my community.
