Bryce Beasley

Academic and Test Prep Tutor

Biography

Whether it’s classic literature, historical accounts, or poetry collections, I’ve always been fascinated by those who came before us and what they left behind. I arrived at UC Davis with a strong background in archaeology and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history and a minor in archaeology. I continued my education at the University of Oklahoma, where I earned master’s degrees in the history of science and library and information science. My education has allowed me to pursue my love of the past while sharing that enthusiasm with others, something I’m proud to continue at AJ Tutoring.

My first experience instructing students was teaching archaeology on an active excavation in Ireland. Our students came from a wide range of academic disciplines, and I enjoyed helping them connect with the culture and heritage of the past. I later built on those skills as an embedded tutor for U.S. history while attending Foothill Community College. These experiences showed me how much I enjoy helping others learn about the past, and that interest continued through my work as a graduate teaching assistant and mentor at the University of Oklahoma.

As a tutor, I believe communication, patience, and understanding are essential to the learning process. Every student brings their own experiences, strengths, and challenges to a subject, and effective instruction starts with understanding where they are. My goal is to provide students with the support and tools they need to approach challenging material with greater confidence and work toward their academic goals. I especially enjoy helping students make connections between historical events, ideas, and the people who shaped them.

Outside of tutoring, I can often be found hiking in the woods around the Bay Area or conducting academic research into the history of magic, medicine, and science through the study of medieval manuscripts.

Happy Parents and Students

""I looked forward to our sessions, which made the work we did stick with me more. All in all, this is probably one of the best tutoring experiences I have had!""
