Biography

Born and raised in the Bay, I attended Sacred Heart Preparatory before venturing across the country to Carnegie Mellon University. There, I completed my degree in Information Systems Management and pursued my passion for storytelling through additional minors in English Literature and Game Design. The range of my studies took me abroad to Bocconi School of Management in Italy, and after a summer internship in London, I returned home with an abundance of new experiences and a persistent love for learning.

My first foray into education was as a head teaching assistant for a Carnegie Mellon programming course, where I relished the opportunity to provide a clear path to mastering difficult subjects. I found that students were most engaged when I could meet them at their level; working on the scale of individuals with distinct goals and abilities enabled me to adapt the delivery of each lesson to its maximum effect.

My approach to teaching is marked by clear avenues of communication and a sensitivity to students’ needs. I use the 1-on-1 environment at AJ to build upon each student’s unique strengths, tailoring lessons that foster curiosity and build confidence in the classroom. In the long term, I seek to instill in students a passion for learning that serves them in both their academic and personal endeavors.

Outside of tutoring, I spend my time reading and writing fiction, swimming and playing water polo, and (usually) winning at video games. I consider myself a lifelong learner, and I’m constantly pursuing new skills! Most recently, I’ve taken up learning the ukulele.
