Biography

Born and raised in the Bay, I attended Sacred Heart Preparatory before venturing across the country to Carnegie Mellon University. There, I completed my degree in Information Systems Management and pursued my passion for storytelling through additional minors in English Literature and Game Design. The range of my studies took me abroad to Bocconi School of Management in Italy, and after a summer internship in London, I returned home with an abundance of new experiences and a persistent love for learning.

My first foray into education was as a head teaching assistant for a Carnegie Mellon programming course, where I helped my undergraduate peers master abstract technical concepts and develop strong problem-solving instincts. I found that students engaged most when I adapted instruction to fit their individual needs; this sensitivity to students’ abilities remains the core of my personal tutoring philosophy.

At AJ, I use the 1-on-1 environment to tailor lessons to each student’s unique strengths and goals. In the long term, I seek to instill a passion for learning that serves students in both their academic and personal endeavors.

Outside of tutoring, I spend my time reading and writing fiction, swimming and playing water polo, and (usually) winning at video games. I consider myself a lifelong learner, and I’m constantly pursuing new skills! Most recently, I’ve taken up learning the ukulele.
