Colin Fujikawa

Biography

At my core, I am a teacher, driven to educate and inspire by sharing my knowledge and passions with the communities I serve. From working with elementary school students with physical and intellectual disabilities to tutoring undergraduate peers in organic chemistry, I have fallen in love with my role as an educator. I have been fortunate enough to have had amazing teachers who have taught me the importance of mentorship and guidance. I think of teaching as a cyclical process: as I was once a student, I strive to inspire the next generation of excellent leaders in biology, chemistry, and beyond.

I was born and raised in San Jose, where I attended Valley Christian High School and developed a deep passion for the sciences. After high school, I moved to Los Angeles, where I earned a B.S. degree in Human Biology at the University of Southern California. I am currently applying to medical school with aspirations of becoming a pediatric cardiologist. Alongside this year-long application process, I joined AJ Tutoring to continue developing my love for teaching and education. I believe that my passions for medicine and education open up a future path for me in academic medicine.

My goal with AJ Tutoring is to ensure that my students not only understand the content they are learning but also develop a deep appreciation for the subject matter. Biology and chemistry are fascinating fields in academia with limitless possibilities—I want to guide my students through navigating these possibilities and finding joy in the sciences.

Outside of tutoring, I work as an emergency medical technician and conduct clinical research with the USC Keck Hospital Department of Anesthesiology. In my free time, I love to explore new restaurants, run, or watch any of the Bay Area’s major sports teams. I have been hyper-focused on becoming a good golfer, so you can often catch me at a local driving range working on my irons.
