Biography

My first foray into teaching was in high school, where I volunteered at my old middle school to teach introductory speech and debate skills in an after-school program. Public speaking isn’t a skill that came easily to me, and the same is true for many others. As a result, it was very fulfilling to see young students previously terrified of standing up and speaking become strong orators. I continued teaching speech and debate even after I graduated high school because I enjoyed in so much. I worked at various schools throughout the Bay Area, including the Harker School and Stanford University.

After high school, I went on to pursue my undergraduate education in statistics at Carnegie Mellon University. There, I reinforced my belief in the importance of teaching and the difference each individual instructor can have on a student’s education. A core part of my success at CMU can be attributed to the hard work and guidance the teachers and teaching assistants gave me. It was their support that helped me truly succeed.

At AJ Tutoring, my focus is on SAT test preparation. As someone who thrives under pressure and competitive environments, I relish the challenge of a rigorous standardized test and take great satisfaction in honing test preparation skills and learning methodologies built to maximize a student’s potential. My goal as a tutor is to not only help students fully understand the concepts tested on the SAT but also understand how to build tools to be ready for the stressors of such an important test.

When I’m not working as a tutor, I enjoy reading classical and fantasy novels, playing volleyball, and competing in trading card game tournaments.
