Hadeel Abdul-Rehman

Academic and Test Prep Tutor

Biography

I’ve always loved learning and supporting others in their learning. My interest in teaching led me to volunteer as a tutor in high school and later work as a peer tutor at Columbia University, where I studied Biomedical Engineering. Since graduating, I’ve also worked as a volunteer research mentor, guiding high school students through literature-based research projects. These experiences have shown me how rewarding it can be to help students work through challenges and gain confidence in their abilities.

As a tutor, my goal is to create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and sharing what they find challenging without feeling judged. I want students to recognize that struggling with a concept is a natural part of learning, not a reflection of their ability. When a student is having difficulty with a particular topic, I like to break it down into smaller, more manageable parts and use guiding questions to help them work through the problem themselves. I find that this approach helps students understand the material while also strengthening their confidence and problem-solving skills.

At AJ Tutoring, I work with students on SAT test prep and science. I enjoy helping students strengthen their problem-solving skills, develop effective learning strategies, and deepen their understanding of the science behind the world around them. My goal is not simply to help students reach the right answer, but to give them strategies and understanding they can carry into future academic challenges.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy crocheting, trying new restaurants, and baking.

Happy Parents and Students

""My tutor was really passionate about math, and that makes it so much more enjoyable to learn. They also used a variety of teaching methods and concepts for each problem, which gives me the opportunity to experiment with techniques in math.""
