Biography

As early as I can remember, learning has been at the center of my life. I was raised in Huntington Beach, where my love for the sciences began. With teachers who inspired us to go beyond our textbooks, I began to appreciate learning through one-on-one discussions with my teachers and asking for help when a concept was challenging. Those early academic experiences helped me understand the importance of asking for help and seeing it as an opportunity for growth, rather than a source of shame.

With that positive foundation, I went on to pre-med at Vanderbilt University, graduating with a B.A. in Medicine, Health, and Society, and a minor in Business. In college I learned how to navigate the academic pressure and rigorous environment of upper-level science courses. Taking advantage of my professors’ office hours and the peer tutoring center at Vanderbilt enabled me to reconfirm my love for the sciences and learning, while reinforcing the importance of asking for and receiving expert individualized academic support.

For me, learning is a continuous and never-ending journey. This means that any question is a good question, as it demonstrates curiosity and a desire to become a better version of oneself. I want individuals to not only know a topic, but also to fully grasp the foundational concepts and interconnectedness that come with the sciences by always asking, “What more?”

By building trust, I aim to foster an environment that encourages learners to take risks. Tutoring isn’t about fixing or correcting; it’s about creating a personalized and supportive environment where every individual can unlock their potential. At AJ, I hope that individual students will find themselves feeling inspired to learn and grow into lifelong learners who focus on understanding rather than memorization, and who feel confident in their knowledge.

Outside of AJ, I love anything that gets me moving, whether that’s running, hot yoga, hiking, or rock climbing. I’m currently training for a marathon in 2026 and hope to run for Kesem, a non-profit organization for kids impacted by their parents’ battles with cancer.

Happy Parents and Students

""I have already recommended (AJ) to several classmates of mine because it is tailored to my experience, the time is flexible with my given schedule and I always get the most possible out of the sessions.""
