Biography

From a young age, I’ve gravitated toward teaching math. Guiding classmates from questions to clarity has always been such a rewarding experience. Even in grade school, I enjoyed explaining concepts to fellow students, and seeing how everyone gained more understanding through collaboration.

This passion turned professional while pursuing a degree in mathematics at Le Tourneau University, where I became a one-on-one tutor for undergraduate courses such as Calculus I, Calculus II, and Differential Equations. I learned the value of discovering a student’s individual learning style, the importance of strong study habits, and how powerful an encouraging environment can be to squash self-doubt. Tutoring has always been a pleasure for me, and I’ve loved sharing my math knowledge and academic skills with my students at AJ.

When it comes to education, I believe the foundations for success are patience, communication, and adaptability. Going at the student’s pace while effectively conveying concepts and presenting information in the most digestible way are both essential for successful tutoring. I always seek to cultivate a space where students feel comfortable asking questions, and can then dig deeper to find the meaning behind the numbers.

In my free time, I enjoy scrapbooking and reading mystery books. I also love nature, and often take long scenic drives to the redwoods or the coast (with music blasting, of course)!
