Karim Erhili

Biography

I graduated from Carnegie Mellon with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, completing pre-med requirements, and I’m currently finishing my master’s in biomedical engineering. Looking back at my own high school and college years, I realize that my love for teaching started when I was a young student myself.

I always had a strong desire to help classmates work through the subjects that they found difficult, which makes AJ Tutoring a natural fit. Chemistry and biology are two of the subjects that students dread the most, but in my experience, subject mastery is rarely about innate ability: it’s about finding the explanation that finally makes it click. My goal is for my students to walk into their next biology or chemistry exam knowing there’s nothing that can catch them off guard.

I always spoke French at home, even though English has been the language I’ve used to navigate school, friendships, and daily life. With that said, I know French well enough to say this honestly: there are a lot of rules, and yes, there are a lot of exceptions to those rules (and exceptions to the exceptions, somehow!). It’s a language that rewards patience more than it rewards memorization, and I enjoy helping students build the kind of familiarity with it that makes those exceptions feel less like landmines and more like old friends.

My job isn’t done until both students and their parents can say, “I’ve got this.” And if you’re ever feeling like you can’t do it, I will absolutely bribe you with pictures of my cats until you do!
