Biography

My family moved frequently throughout the United States during my childhood, exposing me to a wide range of academic environments and cultures. We eventually settled in the Bay Area, where I attended high school. I later received my B.A. from UCLA, where I studied Philosophy and English. My academic work focused on the history of philosophy, metaphysics, and philosophy of mind; I am now pursuing graduate studies in these areas, continuing to explore how we perceive, think, learn, and understand. In literature, I concentrated on 17th and 18th-century texts, with a particular emphasis on epic poetry.

During my time at college, I served as president of the undergraduate philosophical society, where I gained experience delivering lectures and guiding students through difficult texts. I aimed to help participants develop an appreciation for how highly abstract theories can illuminate concrete circumstances, and vice versa. I also edited the undergraduate philosophy journal, working closely with contributors to strengthen their analytical writing and reasoning skills through the revision process.

My commitment to tutoring grows out of a conviction that education is fundamentally about the joy of discovery. At its best, scholarship is not about simply memorizing or rehearsing inert facts, but rather about cultivating curiosity, epistemic humility, and sound judgment. Some of the most formative relationships in my life have been with teachers—especially teachers of literature—who demonstrated how the insights of great texts can extend far beyond the classroom.

My professional experience in childcare has further shaped my approach to teaching. Effective mentorship requires patience, attentiveness, and a willingness to meet each student where they are. Every learner brings distinct strengths, questions, and challenges; meaningful instruction responds to those differences with care and flexibility. One-on-one tutoring provides an ideal setting for fostering this kind of individual growth.

Outside of tutoring, I continue to read widely in philosophy, science, and literature. I also value spending time outdoors and playing jazz and classical piano.
