Biography

History and English have always been my favorite subjects in school, from the time I was little growing up in the Bay Area. I think the only thing more fun than learning about history on my own is talking about it with others. I am currently a master’s student at Stanford University studying United States history. I am especially interested in women’s and feminist history of the 18th and 20th centuries.

While studying history at Boston University as an undergrad, I worked as a history writing tutor, peer mentor, and study coach. After graduating, I have spent time volunteering with nonprofits and working at a nontraditional school for neurodivergent students. My experience tutoring in these distinct environments has shown me the importance of one-on-one learning. Every person learns differently, and with patience and support, we can work together to engage with the material, meet goals, and form habits for the future. Communicating about challenges and achievements is key to establishing a pattern of success.

I do believe that the humanities are important and relevant to everyone, but they can feel daunting for those who feel more inclined towards other subjects or who struggle in traditional academic environments. I am passionate about making the humanities accessible and engaging for everyone, finding stories and strategies that interest each student. There are so many different ways to approach history and English learning and I appreciate how much I myself learn from students.

When I’m not doing my own historical reading and research, I can be found singing in my community choir, playing board games, or hiking in the hills.
