Maanasa Kotha

Biography

I was born and raised in San Jose, California, and left to pursue my undergraduate degree at MIT in Computer Science. After returning to the Bay Area, I worked in tech and robotics while continuing to develop my love for teaching. My interest in tutoring and teaching started with my parents, who were both teachers; it seems to be an accidental family legacy that all of us fell into and fell in love with. Studying Computer Science at MIT deepened that love, giving me a real appreciation for the art and practice of teaching, learning, and curiosity.

I’ve had the opportunity to tutor and teach through an after-school program with a nonprofit based in Palo Alto, and I’m excited to bring that experience to AJ Tutoring.

I work with students on everything from SAT test prep to school subjects. I am extremely dedicated to helping students truly understand what they’re learning, gain the skills to overcome any challenge (academic or not), and grow into confident, analytical thinkers. My goal as a tutor is to help students feel confident in their abilities and succeed in school and in life — whatever they need to get there, I’m motivated to help.

Outside of tutoring and teaching, I enjoy dancing, drawing, singing, reading, and anything new and creative.
