Biography

My passion for tutoring began when I realized that the greatest barrier to learning is often not ability, but confidence. I enjoy guiding students through challenging topics by breaking them into manageable steps and watching their confidence grow when concepts finally start to click. I grew up in the Bay Area and studied Public Health Science at Santa Clara University, where I also minored in Biology and Sustainability. My science background influences how I teach: I focus on helping students understand the why behind concepts so they can apply what they learn rather than simply memorizing formulas or facts.

I enjoy teaching K–8 subjects because these are the years when students build the foundations that shape their confidence about learning later on. I’m also especially drawn to math and science because they’re like puzzles. They may look intimidating at first, but with the right approach, they become logical and even fun. I previously worked as a summer school teaching assistant at Saint Francis High School, supporting Algebra II as well as middle school English, math, and science classes. I also coached track and field at Notre Dame High School, where I learned how important encouragement and clear communication are when students feel stuck or discouraged.

My tutoring approach is personalized and collaborative. I work with students to pinpoint where they feel confused, then adjust explanations and practice to match how they learn best, whether that means breaking problems into smaller steps, using visual examples, or practicing skills until they feel comfortable working independently. I also help students build consistent study habits so their confidence continues to grow outside of sessions.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy working out, spending time outdoors, walking my mini Australian shepherd, Bronx, and attempting creative projects like crocheting sweaters. As someone pursuing a career in medicine, I value patience, communication, and building trust with students and families. My goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, building skills, and developing confidence in their abilities.
