Biography

From an early age, I’ve always had an interest in life sciences. After my first laboratory experience working with electron microscopes and cell cultures in high school, I continued to pursue my passion for research in the lab at Rutgers University–New Brunswick, where I accepted an academic scholarship to study protein structure and function.

During this time, I was a teaching assistant for several classes and mentored many undergraduate and high school students in standardized exams and test prep. Eventually, my interests led me to Stanford University to pursue a PhD in Biophysics.

My work at AJ Tutoring focuses primarily on biology and chemistry. Instead of just rote memorization, my goal is for students to conceptually understand the processes that make our world work, breaking down complex pathways and formulae into simple and analogy-based lessons that students enjoy.

As a tutor at AJ, I strive to teach both content knowledge in the sciences and organizational, calming, and practical test preparation skills based on hurdles that I personally faced in my journey as a student. Collaborating with parents and students to meet personal and tailored milestones, I endeavor to bring positive change that goes beyond our sessions.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy bouldering, reading memoirs, building and painting scale model kits, and catching up on feature films from the early 2000s. I also have a penchant for collecting postcards and novel stationary; I love to track all the places I’ve been!
