Biography

As the first person in my immigrant family to receive a formal education, I understand firsthand how challenging it can be to navigate academics without knowing where to find the support you need. My own educational journey inspired me to create the kind of learning environments where students feel supported, understood, and able to flourish. I first began tutoring in middle school through peer mentoring programs and continued tutoring throughout my education and undergraduate studies at UC Santa Barbara. Along the way, I’ve also worked as a private tutor in students’ homes and taught at academic learning centers.

My experiences as a student have shaped the way I approach tutoring. I want students to feel confident in their ability to learn and to know that challenges are a natural part of the process. Building a connection with each student and understanding their individual strengths, needs, and areas for growth is especially important to me. I adapt my teaching approach based on how each student learns best, with the goal of keeping them engaged while helping them become more independent learners.

At AJ Tutoring, I have the opportunity to combine my STEM background with my experience in education. I enjoy helping students work through subjects that may initially feel frustrating or intimidating and finding ways to make the material more approachable. Whether we’re working through a difficult concept or building skills step by step, I want students to leave our sessions feeling more capable and curious than when they arrived.

Outside of teaching, I’m passionate about uplifting others and bringing joy to my community through the arts, patient care, and community service. In my free time, I enjoy expressing myself through playing musical instruments and choreographing dance, as well as staying active through outdoor adventures and time at the gym.

""I learned a lot of new tactics for the test taking as well as new content. I really liked the way my tutor presented the information and their level of understanding.""
