Biography

I grew up in Cupertino and am a proud graduate of Cupertino High School. I went on to earn a B.S. in statistics, then an M.A. in mathematics with an education emphasis at San Diego State University. After completing my M.A. in mathematics education, I received my teaching credential from San Jose State University and have taught Math 8, Geometry, Precalculus, and Calculus AB in local middle and high schools.

Aside from my classroom teaching experiences, I tutored and was a teaching assistant throughout college and graduate school, where I mainly worked with students in precalculus, calculus, and statistics. My biggest strength as an educator is building students’ confidence in their math skills. I do this by providing hints and guiding questions that allow students to do most of the thinking themselves.

As an educator, I enjoy seeing students become more confident in math. Witnessing those lightbulb moments and hearing them say, “Oh! I see it now!” are what make teaching so rewarding. Since I was very young, being an educator has always been my dream job, and tutoring students at AJ enables me to do what I love and build math students’ confidence in themselves as independent learners at the same time.

Outside of the classroom, I am a corgi lover and a gamer. I typically play MMORPGs such as Maplestory or open-world games such as Genshin Impact. In addition, I enjoy watching Korean variety shows, of which my all-time favorite is Runningman.
