Biography

I grew up in an extended family with a love of learning and an even greater love of sharing knowledge. Naturally, this led to a multigenerational tradition of professors, teachers, coaches, and tutors across many areas of education, and I’m proud to be part of that tradition.

I find immense joy in learning about all sorts of subjects, but I’ve always had a particular strength in math. I joined a math team in elementary school and completed Precalculus and Trigonometry during my sophomore year of high school. One of my favorite photos from high school is of me explaining SOH-CAH-TOA to my friends over lunch. I was especially proud of my math and test-taking skills when my college placement exam meant I only needed to take Applied Calculus for Business and Economics to fulfill my general education requirements. This gave me the opportunity to save time and money while exploring other subjects that interested me.

Before earning my M.A. in Education and becoming a high school math teacher, I worked in professional theater on the production side. I’ve found that this unusual background is a real strength as a math teacher because it allows me to bring creativity, fun, and real-world applications into a subject that can sometimes feel intimidating. While I greatly enjoyed teaching high school math, I found that I thrived most when working with students one-on-one. I enjoy getting to know students as people, understanding where they’re coming from, and finding ways to make mathematical concepts accessible to them. I’m glad to now bring those strengths to tutoring.

Outside of tutoring, I have an eclectic array of interests, including reading, musical theater, swimming, crafting, and video games.
