Biography

My high school biology teacher was the reason why I pursued the field in college. Whenever I asked him a question out of curiosity, he would always say “good question,” and that motivated me to learn more about biology. After high school, I went on to obtain a BS in pharmacology at UC Santa Barbara, and a MS in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology from the same university.

During my time as a graduate student, I worked as a teaching assistant every quarter for two years, and I fell in love with teaching. As a passionate educator, it made me happy whenever I saw a student’s “lightbulb” go off after my explanations. It’s one of the most rewarding feelings. In my class, I actively made a friendly and welcoming environment for students and tried to get to know the students personally. This helped them become comfortable with me in class, which allowed them to ask me questions without hesitation.

At AJ, I’m more than excited to help students uncover their true academic potentials, while also helping them gain more confidence. I aspire to be just like my high school biology teacher: fostering curiosity in students and helping them find passion. Every student has a goal, and I’m thrilled to be part of their journey to realize it.

In my free time, I like to play my guitar, cook, go to fitness classes, and do anything outdoors. I can’t wait for the ski season to start!
