Biography

I began my undergraduate studies at UC Davis as an economics major and somehow ended up immersed in Greek and Latin instead. I have no regrets—except perhaps upper-division Greek. (Feel free to ask me about my Wild West adaptation of Miles Gloriosus!) When I realized I didn’t have enough credits to graduate, I pulled a classic third-act twist and added a second major in linguistics.

That decision led me to pursue a master’s degree in linguistics at Georgetown University, where I developed a deeper understanding of language, teaching, and—at long last—the value of completing readings before class.

My teaching philosophy is shaped by a background in theater, a foundation in classical studies, and a strong belief that education should be both rigorous and engaging. I strive to create a tutoring environment that is structured yet dynamic, where curiosity drives discussion and students feel comfortable exploring ideas collaboratively. My lessons are designed to balance clarity with spontaneity—something like Schoolhouse Rock meets Whose Line Is It Anyway, hosted by a very enthusiastic version of Socrates.

Rather than positioning myself as the sole authority in the room, I aim to model inquiry, creativity, and adaptability. My goal is not just to deliver content, but to cultivate intellectual engagement, foster critical thinking, and encourage students to take ownership of their learning.

In my free time, I skateboard, relive my childhood through old Flash games and Linkin Park AMVs, dabble in 3D modeling, and try to master all of Radiohead’s discography on the ukulele.
