Frequently Asked Questions about Summer Tutoring Programs

What are the benefits of summer tutoring programs?

Summer is a great time to get a jump start on the upcoming school year or engage with academic material at a deeper level. We’re excited to provide a variety of summer tutoring programs near you that meet your student’s unique learning needs!

How do you come up with a tutoring plan?

With input from your family, we’ll craft a tutoring approach for your subject and unique learning style. After the first few sessions with your summer tutor, we’ll follow up to provide feedback, answer questions, and set expectations.

What's the difference between a "primer" course and a "bridge" course?

One of the key benefits of summer tutoring is the opportunity to preview the course content you’ll see next school year. Both a “primer” and a “bridge” course do this, but a “primer” course assumes that you don’t have a lot of prior knowledge about the course content, whereas a “bridge” course is designed to build on the lessons you learned in the previous course. This is why you’re likely to see a “primer” for AP US History (which students take in place of a regular US history course), but a “bridge” for AP Biology (which students typically take after regular or honors biology).

We’re always happy to adjust a course to make it more of a “primer” or a “bridge,” so please let us know if you would like a more customized approach!

Can I sign up for a group class in a 1-on-1 setting instead?

Absolutely! All of our group classes can be modified to fit a flexible, 1-on-1 setting. This is especially useful for students who still want to get the course content but can’t met in the location or on the timeline of the group class. All 1-on-1 tutoring is billed at your tutor’s private academic or test prep tutoring rate (not the group class rate).

Let's discuss your student's academic tutoring, test prep, or college counseling needs!

Our test prep, academic tutoring, and college admissions counseling professionals are here to help you navigate the test taking maze, share our experience with your local school, and inspire your student.
