Biography

My journey into education started in a high school biology classroom in Denver, where I taught through Teach for America. While I loved teaching content, what really lit me up was helping students overcome obstacles they once thought were impossible. Watching them build confidence, develop new study habits, and finally feel proud of themselves was incredibly rewarding. That experience is what led me to tutoring; I love being part of that moment when something finally clicks and a student realizes, “Hey, I can do this.”

I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and earned my degree in cell biology and Spanish from Washington State University in 2023. After wrapping up my final year in the classroom this past school year, I’m now pursuing my master’s in Genetic Counseling at Stanford University, where I continue to deepen my passion for science and education. Over the years, I’ve learned that success in school isn’t just about putting in the hours – it’s about finding the right strategies, having the right support, and building confidence along the way. That’s exactly what I strive to bring to every tutoring session: practical tools, encouragement, and a belief in what each student can achieve.

Though my academic background is in science, I’ve supported students across subjects and grade levels, from building foundational reading and math skills to tackling tough coursework in middle and high school. I especially love working with students who are still figuring out how they learn best. Whether we’re organizing an essay, breaking down a tricky word problem, or reviewing for a big test, I aim to make learning feel less overwhelming and more empowering.

During my time in the classroom, I worked with students of all backgrounds—English language learners, students with IEPs, and those receiving gifted & talented services. This experience taught me how to personalize instruction, adapt on the fly, and create a space where students feel seen and supported. I bring those same skills to tutoring, where one-on-one time allows us to slow down, get clear on the goals, and build real confidence.

Outside of academics, I’m an avid hiker, a casual piano player, and a devoted explorer of local coffee shops (coffee is absolutely a personality trait!). I bring curiosity, patience, and energy to every tutoring session and I can’t wait to help your student grow into a more confident, capable learner.
