Biography

I’m very excited to be working with everyone in the AJ Tutoring community! I graduated from Northwestern University, where I studied Psychology and Human Development. I’m also pursuing a doctorate in clinical psychology at the PAU-Stanford PsyD Consortium! I have a passion for helping them work towards accomplishing the goals and hopes that they think are
personally meaningful and valuable. This applies to many aspects of life and growing up, but particularly in the context of learning and education for kids and teens.

My psychology background during my undergraduate career led me to work with students in math and literacy skills as well as a research program helping youth with executive functioning, organization, and time management. I also have ample experience working with students on reading and math tutoring while addressing any struggles with organization. Through these opportunities, I’ve realized the importance of each student being able to figure out what study skills work for them and how/when to reach out for support for any concerns when necessary. This applies to every kid from elementary and middle school students to high schoolers preparing for the SAT.

Learning is such an individualized journey no matter the academic subject, standardized test, or age group, and experience with diverse populations has made me appreciate that. My approach to tutoring and teaching centers around recognizing the student as a whole person and taking advantage of their own strengths and skills in figuring out strategies for them to either brush up on knowledge or absorb new material. That’s a major reason I’m working at AJ – the teams’ care for the unique needs of kids and families and attention to rigorous preparation reflect my priorities as an educator and helping professional.

Something that most folks don’t know about me, at least from first impressions, is that I can be really funny and random. Also, in my free time, I like to watch Korean and Chinese dramas, take nature photography photos, cook with friends, and explore (I love being a tourist).
