Biography

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been curious about the natural world. As a child, I would play with magnifying glasses and magnets while trying to figure out how they worked, though simply fiddling with them never provided a satisfying answer. The first answers I got in that regard came from a book called “What Einstein Told his Barber”, full of understandable yet detailed explanations of everyday phenomena. Though I didn’t realize it then, this book jumpstarted my interest in Physics, in which I eventually pursued a degree at Colgate University.
While studying there, I joined a research team studying Dark Matter, and took as many classes in Physics and Mathematics as I could. However, while learning satiated my curiosity, it never fully satisfied me, and I found that missing ingredient in the form of teaching. Primarily tutoring underclassmen, I enjoyed showing my students that despite Physics and Mathematics’ reputation for difficulty, complex concepts need not be confusing.
At AJ, the 1-on-1 environment allows me to tailor my teaching to the student’s background and learning style, so that I can watch each student become the best version of themselves they can be. Whether their goal is to study science in university or otherwise, I above all else enjoy seeing my students pursuing their curiosity.
